Melville News – November 2006

The year is marching to its end so quickly – we always find that the last quarter flies by as the children get settled back into school, there is so much going on at church and of course all the busyness of the holidays.  All of a sudden August of next year seems really close!  That is of course our hoped for departure date to Zambia to minister with the Action International Ministries team there.

Graham’s visit

Later this month Graham is going out for a ten day visit to Lusaka, to visit schools and to see how everything has moved on since our trip in 2004.  Please pray for safe travel for him and for a couple from our church (Chris and Joy Hauge) who will be there at the same time as they are in the process of adopting a Zambian baby.  Pray also for wisdom and guidance as Graham visits various potential schools for Philip and Rachel.

Pledge form

A number of you have told us that the pledge form that we enclosed last time was confusing!  Our apologies - we hope that the new revised version is clearer and a huge thank you to all of you who are supporting us this way, without your financial support we would not be able to go.

How are your plans going?

We are often asked how our plans are regarding next year and, to be honest, most of the time our lives are unchanged – school, work, house stuff, seeing friends - we do of course have some very specific things to do like write newsletters!  However, at the same time we know that it is all going to change next year and that makes our outlook very different. We see in many ways our everyday lives getting us ready.  There are the more obvious things like teaching Sunday school and leading/doing Bible study – but also daily we are called to put God first, bring up our children in a Godly way, love our neighbours as ourselves and commit all we do to the Lord.  In having a deadline we are certainly more aware of how life changes so often, and we are being challenged in our faith, but we are all called to worship God and share the good news of the gospel whether it be in the UK, California or Zambia!  Just this last weekend we had a “missions emphasis” here at West Hills Community church and we were reminded that we are all called to “go” it is just a case of where - across the street to a neighbour or to Zambia!  We are not a ‘special case” and most of you know that we are not particularly special!  As we said in the close of our last new letter, like the church itself, missions is not about the individual but the body working together and we are especially blessed having support on both sides of the Atlantic!

With our love and thanks, Graham, Sarah, Philip and Rachel

Please pray for:  Graham’s trip to Lusaka (Nov 19-Dec 1)
